Generally, there are four major types of electric vehicles.
FREMONT, CA: There are four major types of electric vehicles available:
• Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV): Activated by electricity. These are more practical compared to hybrid and plug-in hybrids.
• Hybrid Electric Vehicle: Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) utilizes an internal combustion (generally petrol) engine and a battery-powered motor powertrain. The petrol engine operates and charges when the battery is empty. These vehicles are not as qualified as completely electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
• Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV): Employ an internal combustion engine and a battery aerated from an external socket (they have a plug). This indicates the vehicle’s battery can be powered with electricity instead of the engine. PHEVs are more effective than HEVs but less effective than BEVs.
• Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV): Electric power is yielded from chemical energy.
For illustration, a hydrogen FCEV.
The System Architecture of 4 types of electric cars is as follows:
Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs):
BEVs are also aware as All-Electric Vehicles (AEV). Electric Vehicles utilizing BEV technology run totally on a battery-powered electric drivetrain. The electricity employed to drive the vehicle is kept in a large battery pack which can be charged by plugging it into the grid. The charged battery box gives power to one or more electric motors to drive the electric car.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV):
HEVs are also known as series hybrid or parallel hybrid. HEVs possess both engines and electric motors. The engine gains energy from fuel, and the motor gains electricity from batteries. The transmission is revolved synchronously by both engine and the electric motor. This then pushes the wheels.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV):
The PHEVs are also famous as sequence hybrids. Since they have both engine and a motor, you can choose among the fuels, standard fuel (petrol) or alternative fuel (bio-diesel). A rechargeable battery pack can also drive it. The battery can be charged outwardly.
Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle(FCEV):
FCEVs are also named as Zero-Emission Vehicles. They employ ‘fuel cell technology to generate the electricity essential to run the vehicle. The chemical energy of the fuel is altered straight into electric energy.
